Celebrity Wordawazzle is a daily guess-the-famous-Aussie game. Every day there’s a new well-known Australian: an actor, pop star, sporting legend or national treasure. You guess their last name in six tries, with a clue to get you started.
How Celebrity mode works
- Read the clue about today’s famous Australian.
- Guess their surname. The grid fits the name, so the number of tiles tells you how long it is.
- Tiles turn red with a star for the right letter in the right spot, blue for a letter in the wrong spot, and grey for a letter that isn’t in the name.
- Still stuck after three guesses? The first name is revealed.
- You get six tries. Celebrity keeps its own streak and stats, separate from Daily.
Short names, long names
Five tiles could be a cricket great, a tennis champ or a wildlife warrior.
Nine tiles? Think Oscar winners and Hollywood leading men.

Tips for guessing famous Aussies
- Count the tiles first. The length of the name rules out a lot of people straight away.
- Read the clue closely. A film, a sport or a hometown narrows it down fast.
- Use common surname endings. Letters like -ER, -AN and -ON turn up often.
- Hold out for the first name. If you’re stumped, spend your first three guesses on letters and let the reveal do the rest.

Is there a new celebrity every day?
Yes. A new famous Australian arrives at midnight Sydney time, the same one for everyone.
Do I guess the first name or the last name?
The last name. The first name is revealed after your third guess to help you along.
Are all the celebrities Australian?
Every one was born in Australia or is strongly linked to it. When the game ends you’ll see who they are and why they’re famous.
Does Celebrity affect my Daily streak?
No. Celebrity has its own stats and streak, so you can play both every day.
Do my guesses have to be real words?
No. Surnames are not in the dictionary, so any letters are accepted as long as they fill the row.
